I got a reply from a professor from UCLA that he has a "very good possibility" research position for me for the summer. So I emailed him back answering what weeks I can work for him. However, its been five days and he is not answering me back.

The major problem is that I got another positive response from a UCI professor 3 days ago, and I haven't answered him back yet because I was waiting for the UCLA professor to answer me back. I want to email the UCLA professor and I want to ask him when I can know FOR SURE if he DOES have a position for me, not just a "very good possibility". But yet, I do not want to sound rude or impatient. How should I email him?

And since I'm waiting for the UCLA professor to answer me, Im worried that I might lose my position at UCI cuz I haven't been able to answer the UCI professor yet. Or should I tell the UCI professor that i can work for him (just in case i dont get a position at UCLA) and back out later? Or is this unethical? What should I do?

I definately want to email the UCLA prof. again, but I dont know in what kind of tone or what to ask him...

Any suggestions? Thanks
