Hi everyone,
I am wondering why Stanford’s Electrical Engineering program isn’t ABET accredited. It is to my understanding that they have a top-rated program and close ties to silicon valley, so this is very strange to me. I know ABET accreditation is mostly for civil (and most mechanical) engineers, but I’ve heard that in order to receive a PE licence, get into certain grad schools, and for certain employers (gov’t mostly), ABET is critical.
Will not having an ABET-accredited degree limit career choices?
I hope a current or former Stanford student can help answer this question. Thanks in advance!
