No academic EC'S---> advice?

So I’m going into my senior year and obviously thinking about colleges… i’ve worked really hard the past three years and have solid scores/gpas (2350 sat, 36 act, 4.0 UW, 4.8 W)
Unfortunately, I dont really have any impressive EC’s, and the ones i do have (treasurer of one club, founder/pres of one club, member of a few other clubs, do set crew for all the plays, girl scout, couple other things outside of school) are not academic (the clubs are mostly volunteer/hobby based). i honestly just joined clubs i really wanted to join, and didnt think much about impressing colleges until now.

now, im thinking i want to go into engineering, because i really love calc and physics and did a summer camp that introduced me to engineering. but im worried i wont get into the schools i want to apply to since i dont have any great EC’s, specifically academic ones (like science olympiad or something). schools id like to apply to include: Johns Hopkins, Cornell, UPenn, UVA (obviously ill have some easier schools too).

i figure i still have a chance because of my great academics, but im still really nervous Dx any advice on what i should do would be greatly appreciated!! like would it matter at all if i joined an academic club now, or somehow created an academic club? maybe get an internship related to engineering?

“I honestly just joined clubs I really wanted to join…”
This is what you’re supposed to do. Trying to impress colleges (or anyone, for that matter) always backfires. If you use your experiences to write good / personal essays, you’ll do fine.

You don’t need academic ECs. ECs SHOULD be what you wanted to join.

thanks 1golfer1 and guineagirl96 !!! this makes me feel a lot better :smiley:
