I’m hearing that a lot of people got their acceptances already and I haven’t received any notifications from them at all. I’m really worried that I didn’t get in. Can you rate my chances of acceptance? I don’t have the strongest academic record but lots of extracurriculars (4 years of cheer, 4 years of church leadership, involved in two clubs, volunteer service, etc) and my essay was pretty good. GPA- 3.03 SAT-1570/ ACT-27. I’m really worried about not getting accepted to one of the easier UCs.
oh and I applied for financial aid and am a California resident
Riverside should have sent you an email saying they received your application. In it there should be instructions for creating a UC Riverside admissions account (“MyUCR”) where you can check the status of your admissions, trying checking that to see if your application is still in review or not.
Thank you! I just checked the admissions account and it states that my application is still under review.
You should hear by the end of February. They do acceptances in waves.
Unless you have unique circumstances, your GPA and SAT score are on the low side for the lower tier UCs. You should have backup schools like the CSUs
Your GPA is on the lower side for UCs (no judgement, so is mine), but I think your ACT is totally fine for UCR (average ACT score for fall 2014 admits was 25), so I wouldn’t worry about your SAT being just slightly below average for them.
I posted about exactly this a couple days ago – I haven’t heard back either with 3.3 GPA, 2040 SAT, 30 ACT, five SAT subject tests, and ECs a bit weaker than yours. I also heard what Gumbymom said. I think you and I are fine! Good luck!
@alternative33 Thank you!! Good luck to you too! Hopefully we get a decision letter soon!
I’m waiting for ucr responses too . I check my email and myucr account every day. nopee. still under review. it is really making me nervous seeing my friends receive acceptance letters.
I haven’t gotten my letter either. All of my friends have gotten acceptances. I know someone with very high stats who ended up going to UCD who didn’t get his until the end of February last year. My stats:
2050 SAT (650 CR, 690 Math, 710 Writing)
~3.54 UC GPA - Pretty weak courseload, 1 AP Junior year, 2 APs Senior year
Strong EC’s lots of leadership
Applied as Comp Sci major
I think applying as a comp sci major was a stretch… I haven’t taken any honors math courses and im taking regular Calc right now. I’ve gotten a lot of C’s in math and I took AP Bio last year but no science this year.
I’m worried as well, it’s the beginning of February and I still haven’t heard anything.
Quick profile:
Have a 3.17 UC gpa (just barely making it)
Have a 1550 SAT (marginally acceptable)
Was 1st All - League in football this year (ILB)
Have worked two jobs separately during HS
Was homeless during soph year (3 months)
Financially disadvantaged since 7th grade
First Generation student
Have taken 4 APs classes, 2 for English, APUSH and AP GOV, taken Phys. Bio. and Chem. (reg)
and am now in trig (also reg). (Passed AP Exams with a 3 in English and a 4 in APUSH)
Had decent personal statements
What are my chances?
Is there something I’m missing and what is it?
