Accepted - none (the rest of my schools are definitely rejections unless something wonderful happens - they were more high reach)
Waitlist - Pitzer and Whitman.
Rejected - UCI, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, UCLA, Scripps, Mckenna, Harvey Mudd, Pomona, Wash U

GPA: 3. 9 weighted, 3.7 unweighted
IB Diploma Candidate (Though, IB is in its first year here, and the school botched up the system badly - part of the reason why my GPA plummeted)
Treasurer of Speech and Debate, been on the team for 4 years (I've put over a thousand hours into that team)
Volunteering at local hospital for past 3 years
Played the violin for 6 years

Looking back, I realize that I probably didn't have a great choice in the colleges. But things happen.

What do I do now? That's all I ask. What do I do?

That sounds rough…all you can do is try to repeal your UC decisions and send letters of interests and an updated activities list (if you have one) to both the colleges you were waitlisted at, if you’re allowed to (I say this because Northwestern doesn’t allow you to do this so you better check and see). You seem like a good candidate, but you should have had a safety in there :/. Are you waiting to hear back from anywhere else? Also, worst case scenario, if you don’t get into anywhere, you can always go to community college for a year and then try transferring to a either your state school or somewhere better, provided you do well of course. Btw, what are you scores? As a final note, if you’re allowed to, maybe you can go to your waitlisted schools and have a personal conversation with your admissions counselor. It’d put you in a different light.

What the heck…you have really good scores. This is some major injustice, unless your essays weren’t that good but still, based off what you have, you should have at least gotten into UCI or something. I’m sorry :/. Definitely send along letters of interests (why whitman or pitzer are still your number 1 choices and such). Please tell me you’re still waiting on some decisions. One more thing, find colleges that still allow you to apply and see if there are any you like.

I am waiting on other colleges, but they were the high reaches. I’m probably going to go mark the waitlist, explain my situation to Whitman and Pitzer - I think, though, I’m going to try finding a school with rolling admissions. Isn’t there a website for that? I’ll look it up.

@Black’s Law
No, it’s not injustice, it’s just “UC Justice” - GPA
A 3.9 wt GPA is just far off most of the schools she(he?) applied to, although not getting into UCI is weird though.

Don’t tell them that you’ve been rejected to all your schools…that won’t curry any favors for you…just tell them that you’re really interested bc of “x” and “y” reasons.

I have the feeling that would’ve made them less interested. Still, I’m going to at least tell them that I am fully committed if accepted…which is a fact. I live nearby Pitzer, so I can talk to the admissions officer asap.

You can always use the search engine on the common-app website to find colleges with rolling admission.

To be honest, based on your stats, I’m really surprised that you haven’t been admitted by at least some of the colleges you listed. Do you a California resident?

Definitely look into colleges still accepting applications - you may even be able to get some $$ somewhere with your great grades & SAT/ACT scores.

In the meantime, search soem threads here for how to approach getting off a waitlist. i know one thing I’ve read is that it might help if you have your guidance counselor call the school and let them know that you really want to attend and why they think you are a great fit for the school. So some research, write a fresh “why Pitzer” or"why Whitman" and go talk to your GC about it. Have the GC call and speak to your admissions counselor on your behalf. She/he needs to emphasize that you will definitely attend if accepted, and name the reasons you are such a great fit for the school, and what you will bring to the table if accepted. Not just smart but funny, energetic, helpful, etc.

Are you full pay, or are you needing financial aid?

If you are full pay and would definitely attend one of these schools, I’ve heard the best thing to do is to have your guidance counselor call them and just let them know they are your “first choice” and that you will definitely matriculate if admitted. YMMV

Your guidance counselor must call your waitlist schools and explain that a top student at their school has no acceptances and to please have them give you priority on the waitlist. I am so sorry this happened to you. You deserved to have more choices. Just keep your head high. Wherever you go, they will be lucky to have you. Do your best and seek all opportunites and try to transfer if you are not happy. Don’t let this mess of an admission process define you. This happens to alot of great kids every year and am truly amazed at how great some of them cope and move on. Good luck to you. Let us know what happens.
