No ACT?

Hey, I am a student from the northeast, where SAT isn’t commonly taken, so I never got around to taking it because Cal Poly SLO wasn’t on my radar at the moment. How negatively is this going to hurt my chances or are my GPA and SATs good enough (4.4 weighted, 1410 two part / 1980 three part) . I am worried now that there is a chance I will be denied because of my lack of ACTs.

When we took the college tour at Cal Poly, an admissions counselor told us they would rather see the ACT. They like to see the science score along with the others on the ACT. I would imagine though that there are plenty of students who only submit SAT scores and are still admitted.

I got accepted early decision with a 1470 and i didn’t submit an act. I would think taking the act would help if you had a score more around their average. (yours is a little higher) and they don’t take writing scores which is good because your two-score one is much better.

No worries at all. Cal Poly prefers the ACT but accepts the SAT no problem. With a 4.4 weighted GPA and a 1410 SAT you should be just fine. For Cal Poly a 1410 is high – see the link:
