no affect on chances?

i applied early decision to cornell with a 1430 SAT (2140), 33 ACT, and 790,790 sat2's.

at the beginning of this year i was ranked 10 out of 365 with a weighted gpa of 98.15 out of 100.

i was deferred.

this semester my weighted gpa is 102.53 and it has upped my gpa to 98.99 and my rank to 5 or 6 out of 365.

I don't know what deferral-acceptance rates for cornell are, but I would just like to know if it's safe for me to assume that my chances are better for RD than they were for ED, even though ED has a higher acceptance rate.

Thanks in advance.

they'll like that you kept going strong and improved in school. perhaps that is what is needed to push you over the edge into the acceptance pile

... maybe you should submit a letter saying that Cornell is still your #1 school and that you would attend if accepted? I've heard that really helps the deferred applicants. I think deferral acceptance rates are lower btw. (It doesn't really matter though, you could be the small percent that gets in.)
