Hi. I'm an international from India and got admission to Johns Hopkins' Whiting School Of Engineering.
I'd applied for aid (thus risking my chances of admission); however, I wasn't granted any.
Disturbed, I called up the office (Thrice!) and was simply told that "...no resources remain".

Straight to the point (no long rants): I really don't know what to do atm. Should I file an official appeal (would it even help?)
My EFC (According to their site's calculator) is $24,000 out of the $55,524 estimate.
I really don't know what they're expecting of me and my parents.

I really won't waste time (your and mine!) by expressing my desire to attend Hopkins and yadda-yadda. Can't they even give me a THIRTY% aid?

Also, I know aid decisions are need-aware for internationals. But if we really needed it (according to their site) and if I was offered admission, don't you think I should've been given this aid?

Many colleges and universities do not admit international students whose financial need they cannot meet. Evidently, JHU does not have that kind of admissions policy. The practice you describe is called “admit deny”. It happens all the time for US students. Most of those US students end up studying at other places that are affordable for their families and go on to lead happy, productive lives.

Forget JHU. You cannot afford it. There are many other colleges and universities on this planet where you can receive an equally fine education. At least one of those other institutions is affordable for you.

Did you apply for financial aid late? It sounds like they have exhausted their pool of funds for international students. Btw, according to this site, the number of internationals who received any aid last year was…26.

hey guys i wanna go to uci but im an out of state transfer and my costswere 47000 and my efc was 14000. uci only gave me 1900 for the year…is there any way i can get them to lower my costs or give me more money?
