No AIME discussion

I know quite a few of you will be taking the AIME tomorrow. Please remember that no discussion of the test whatsoever is allowed until Wednesday morning, since people will be taking it at different times and in many different time zones.

:( can i say that i think i only got one correct.. GRRRRRRR

haha same here. i was just happy i qualified though. =P

what was the cutoff score for AMC 10

are we allowed to take both aime1 and aime2, last year i know u couldent

there is only AIME 1 (i heard)

and cutoff for AMC 10 is 120 or top 1 percent in nation.

No, there's AIME-I and AIME-II, as there has been for several years. You can never take both. There's a lively debate on that policy currently happening on AoPS.

what does AIME stand for?

American Invitational Mathematics Exam

Lol so did I, if I hadn't been an idiot and had checked my work over I woulda had a 5, but I'll live with a 3.

What and when is the AMC for somebody like me. Any qualification necessary or is it invite-only?

I will be in bc calculus in 12th grade (07-08) school year.

The AMC is a 25-question, multiple-choice math competition. It covers material that the average precalculus student can be expected to know, but applies it in very original ways that require a lot of thinking.

Tentatively, the 2008 AMC12A is scheduled for Tuesday, February 12, and the AMC12B is scheduled for Wednesday, February 27. You can take either or both; to maximize your chances at AIME/USAMO qualification, it's best to take both if you can.

Scoring is 6 points for each correct answer, and 1.5 for each question left blank. Calculators are NOT allowed starting in 2008. You need 100 points (usually) to advance to the AIME.

That answer your questions?

AMC is open to everyone whose schools are willing to pay the fee. The tests higher in the ladder are invitation only.

If your school doesn't offer it, have a math teacher or math department head check out www.unl.edu/amc and see if she can sign your school up. Or you can go take it at other schools that offer the test.

My school offers it.
