k when i go to the status check on the uf website all i get is
"The Office of Admissions has completed a preliminary review of your application for admission."

im pretty sure it said that exact same thing about a month ago meaning they received all my materials and stuff
so im wondering if its a glitch in the system, if im differed or what, i plan on calling on monday anyway but im wondering if anyone else has this same problem

hmmm. That’s weird. Call the admissions office on Monday and see what’s up. You should have a decision since you applied before Nov 1 and are not high school/AA. My guess is that they are missing something from your application file so they couldn’t give you a decision.

Sorry for jumping in, but sciencegurl, what do you mean “you should have gotten a decision because you’re not dual enrollment/AA”??? I’m getting my AA and all it says is this:

As a prospective student receiving your AA degree or 60 credits in addition to your high school diploma, we will be reviewing your college GPA, and the completion of prerequisite courses for your major, along with other pertinent information for transfer admission. Your major is very important in the transfer review process. Please contact the Office of Admissions immediately if you need to add or change your major.

We appreciate your patience as we continue to evaluate your college-level coursework.

Sincerely,
Office of Admissions
University of Florida

I’m calling Monday to see what this is all about. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and have taken a difficult course load. I was told that if I got over 45 credit hours, UF simply would make me retake over anything that I got over 45, so I decided to get my AA. I’m a biochemistry major, but I have not completed all of my prerequisites yet so I don’t understand how they could accept me as a transfer student. How do you know that it’s different for dual enrollment/AA applicants???

I have a friend who also has not received a decision yet; she also applied early and had everything in on time. So it seems like maybe a few decisions just aren’t up yet – if it’s not there by Monday, definitely call and see what’s going on.

victoria101, you probably ARE being treated as a transfer student. The Department of Chemistry is probably looking at your app, so you might want to call them and see what’s up.

On another note, you don’t usually need to have ALL your prereqs done before you transfer. And especially with your GPA and status, you will probably get admitted.

For your sake, I hope they are considering you as a transfer, that way you can transfer more than 45 credits to UF.

victoria101, I said that because I had only heard of high school/AA students not getting their decisions yet. I thought all regular applicants got their decision (guess not, according to reginaphalange’s comment).

I’m a high school/AA too but I got accepted as a freshman on Friday. I found this on the UF website,

“Students receiving their high school diploma and AA
degree at the same time must complete the freshman
application. The university requires these students to
choose a specific UF college and major. Applicants
must meet college and major junior-level prerequisite
courses and minimum GPA requirements. Applications
will be evaluated for both freshman and junior-level
admission standards”

So high school/AA applicants are evaluated as both freshman and transfers. If they can’t get you in as a freshman, they send your application to the college/major you applied for and you can get in as a transfer.

my daughter is in the same boat as you. No change to the status. I keep thinking my computer browser is messed up, but I have tried using my phone browser also. My daughter and I are very frustrated, but it beats a quick rejection, I think.

I dont think its worth checking constantly at this point. If it’s a glitch with the accounts it isnt changing by itself. If for some unknown reason these applications are still being considered, I doubt they will be working Saturday night and Sunday to update the status. Hopefully get an answer on Monday.

this post has helped so much! but I’m still nervous because I am a dual enrollment student and I haven’t received a decision but all the students in my school are dual enrollment and most of them have received decisions. I don’t understand how the process works???
