I am going to start my junior year soon, and I am not signed up for any AP classes. I tried to get into AP English but was not accepted. The only things even remotely close to an "advanced" class I am taking are Honors Analysis and French IV.

Lmao, seriously.

At my school, you have to be eligible to take certain AP classes based on your ability. Many times, you don't have a choice to take AP classes if you wanted to because you were placed in regular classes from the beginning and not honors classes. Classes that you have to be eligible for include AP English (Language and Lit), Calc, and Chem.

Exceptions include the choice to take AP Bio, Computer Science, and Environmental Science. You could also take honors Chem junior year and get into AP Chem senior year, but that's only if you have the ability. A new thing that our physics department is doing is that regular-level science students can take regular physics junior year, and then take AP Physics senior year.

But most times, the case isn't that you don't choose to challenge yourself; it's the fact that you're not eligible to take the AP classes in the first place. Just because you're not the smartest of the class doesn't mean that you're not worth much.

As long as you have a good GPA, then no, colleges will NOT think that you're stupid.

By not taking AP classes, you're showing them you don't like challenging yourself.

You just basically insulted everyone who are simply average in the first place.

Thank you, Electrictech for clarifying that for stonecutter....I find that many here on CC ASSUME that you can just walk into honors and AP classes....In many, many HS there are strict requirements to be accepted...Unfortunately, not all colleges are necessarily aware of that......

In my school, there aren't any requirements for taking AP classes (except for prerequisite classes) and I've never heard of a high school where there were requirements, so... yeah...

dang i guess i am lucky in a way that my skool is so liberal with allowing ppl in ap classes. I know kids who jump from geo into ap calculus lol.
to the op
I mean if u can't take any ap classes what can u do?I mean its already done.
My advice to you would be to maybe take some classes at a community college. Classes which bascailly cover the material thats covered by the said ap class.

From regular Geometry to AP Calc?!?! Wow. O_o
Thanks for the clarification guys, minus stone cutter & Invoyable.
Yes, I have a pretty good GPA, I will definitely try to raise it this year though.
