my school doesn't offer any AP or honors classes so i was wondering if that will affect my chances of getting into a good school (particularly NYU). i'm a junior and my current GPA is 3.85/4.0, class rank 3/190, taking SAT in june but i'm pretty confident about that (2100?). it just seems like my GPA was easily earned since my classes aren't really challenging and that might matter. anybody?

It will not be a problem because you are taking the hardest “possible” schedule. Just make sure you do well on the SAT.

Ahh dont worry…you cant be at blame for not taking classes that you had no access to.

Just focus on Sat…a 2200 would be very nice…i know u said 2100, but aim higher, that way when you fall, youll only end up where you were expecting to be…but if you succeed :)

if you’re taking the hardest classes available, it won’t hurt you to have no APs- just focus on your SAT scores. if it’s really important to you to have APs or college credit or you want to challenge yourself more, consider taking classes at a nearby college; i don’t know about competitive colleges but most community and state colleges will let high school students sign up for courses over the summer, or you could look into dual enrollment programs

alright thanks guys i’m gonna register for a few classes next semester at our community college but my chances at getting a seat are small, the classes fill up fast. i tried last year, got waitlisted, and never got in. also, does it hurt that i go to a charter school? like, will it matter that i transferred out of a school that does offer APs and stuff to one that doesn’t?

That won’t affect you whatsoever! The colleges will know that your school doesn’t offer anything of the sort, so you’re safe.
