My D21 received all her AP scores except one which had “code 96” and indicated that if she did not receive score by 8/7, to contact-so we are patiently waiting until that date. She would like to get her college applications in ASAP and many begin on 8/1. Right now she has AP with honors/distinction ( or something like that)…but if test that has not been scored comes back as a 4 or 5 she will be a “National AP scholar”. Should she wait to apply until she receives the score or does it really matter to colleges? There was really no indication of why this AP score is delayed. She took the test on the original day and printed off the “congratulations” that it was successfully submitted on test day.
Unless the school is rolling admissions, you likely will not receive an answer until much later. Even some rolling schools (Alabama) wait until September so that they can finish this year. Many schools don’t use AP scores in admissions. That AP award is highly unlikely that it would change an admission decision. But if you want she can do everything but hit submit until she gets the score.
The above covers it. I’d probably wait - there’s no bonus for sending an application in early. Even rolling admissions won’t see meaningful numbers until September.
Fwiw, a “National AP Scholar” title on an application does nothing. AO’s can count the number of tests and read the scores - a label doesn’t do anything.
Thank you @Eeyore123 and @RichInPitt . I’m just a little excited for her to apply. I guess I don’t want her to miss putting anything in her application that could help with merit.
