Is is true that colleges only look at AP Scores after you've been accepted? My friend said that you don't even SEND the scores when you're applying.

Would be a big help cuz all my AP scores suck.

MIT says they use them for admissions.

Your friend may be correct regarding some of the colleges out there, but for the most part, having AP/IB classes and performing well on the following exams seems to be a reasonable method for colleges to get a snapshot of your ability.

The collegeboard search will tell you what the school's AP policy is. I have read some pages that say the college only uses AP exams for placement, and others (isn't there one in VT that can sub AP instead of SAT? odd..) that say the exact opposite, but you've got to take all of that with a grain of salt. If you have really strong grades and GPA, but send in a plethora of 1s and 2s, the college will probably notice that in a bad way. Likewise, you can't slack off in class and have APs get you into college.

Maybe what your friend meant was that you don't have to give your AP scores when you apply. That much I know is true, and that would solve your problem if your scores aren't that good.
