No application fee?

According to the admissions website, Carleton waves the application fee for those who complete Part I online. What effect does this have on the applicant pool, if any? Does it make admissions appear more selective than they are?

I doubt it has much of an effect. Similar schools (Colby, Colgate, Grinnell, Hamilton, and Kenyon, for instance) also have free applications. Carleton is pretty self-selecting, so if anything I get the sense that admissions are more selective than they appear.

It probably has little effect…but it was very nice. :)
