How much will it affect me that I don't have AP scores? I'm a full IB diploma candidate, and won't take any tests until the end of this year.
i would have taken AP tests, if I had known about this, but my county (i'm from KY), has this weird curriculum in which students take Advanced Program classes (abreviated AP) instead of actual Advanced Placement classes; i was under the false impression that I was actually taking AP classes.
my test scores are fairly good, my ec's are science oriented (i went to rsi, and did isef, siemens, sts, etc.). however, when checking the list of people who were accepted to mit, i found very few who got in without ap's.

opps. i saw another thread addressing this issue. sorry about that.

I just want to reiterate that it's not important to take AP classes per se to be competitive for admissions to MIT -- it's important to take the most challenging courses your school happens to offer. It just so happens that the majority of schools in the country have AP courses as their most challenging offerings. But if your school is not one of those, not having taken AP courses is not going to be held against you.
