No APs or Honors

I have a predicament. In all Freshman, Sophmore, and Junior year. I have only taken 1 honors course and no APs. In my Junior year I took an AP for only the 1st quarter and recieved a B (APUSH), but after that my family moved to Illinois. Now I go to a really prestigous high school one of the best in the county. (New Trier High School - Search that on Wikipedia) I was only able to take accelerated courses when I moved to this school. In my Senior year however Im taking 2 APs. Can I get colleges to look at my Senior year grades as a determining factor? My Junior year grades are pretty low because of family problems, but show an upward trend.

My cousin goes to New Trier. Are you talking about 4 level classes? Without those, I imagine it will be hard to get into a top school (ivy league or similar) but you’ll be fine with the next tier, depending on your grades. Get great grades as a senior (which is pretty tough, in my opinion, Sr. year was by far my hardest year, with college apps, and everything else that goes on. You’d think that teachers would cut Sr’s some slack, but they don’t so beware…)

Im talking about level threes. I plan on going to a school like Syracuse, University of Maryland-College Park, Rutgers, and Boston University. In my opinin the level threes are equivalent or higher to a honors course in my old school. So I can ask these colleges to take a look at my senior year?

You’re fine, really, you won’t be ultra-penalized for not overloading on AP’s.
