I did not do as well as I was hoping on my PSAT but during my sophmore year there was an asterick next to my score and said that you did not qualify for NMFS but during the junior year there is not an asterick next to the number. Does that mean there is a chance that the qualified number is lower then previous years. I only got a 185 but since I didn't see the explanation this time I thought it might have changed. There was a meeting in the school that I could not attend that explained why the scores were lower this year.

I believe that asterisk next to the score sophomore year simply indicated that any text (no matter what the score) does not qualify for NMSF qualifications.

Only test taken junior year counts toward qualifying.

momofzag is absolutely correct. However, a 185 is a score to be proud of by all accounts! Any amount of prep will substantially increase you score.

If you got a 240 your sophomore year there would still be that asterisk.

Nice score by the way. My friend got a 185 on it, too. I just got my scores back yesterday and got a 193. How did you compare to the rest of your school? I’m just curious.

I don’t know if the form is my school or all juniors that took the PSAT…91%…I am hoping my SAT is better. Last year I got a 179 and scored a 1940 on SAT…so hopeing for a jump on my December SAT’s.

Sorry to be a debby downer, but I think the qualifying score is still the 200s (and higher for other states). It’s been that way for a really long time, and I don’t think that this test should be that much of a fluctuation. Don’t they determine the qualifying score next September, if I remember correctly?
