I am an ED applicant and submitted my application on the 1st. I was wondering if any of you guys received an assigned brown id/password yet. It’s almost been a week since Brown sent the email which informs us about the Application Summary page and I haven’t received anything ._.

Kind of concerned about this situation…does this mean that Brown had already looked at your application and decided not to send an email because of automatic rejection? To me, this seems illogical, but please leave your responses!

you’re probably thinking too much… theres no reason they should reject right now because the results come out in dec 15th. i didn’t get mine either.

If you do searches on this site, you’ll see that Brown has never been quick in this regard.

To you, and to all the other worried, anxious and nervous students – there are absolutely positively no clues to your acceptance/rejection before you receive the final decision. The fact you haven’t gotten a password does NOT mean rejection. Not getting a call from an alum about an interview does NOT mean rejection. If Brown does not call your guidance counselor asking a question, that does NOT mean rejection.

So please, don’t read signs into every little thing that happens.

pureInf: we get that you’re stressed out. Frankly, I’m glad that when I applied to Brown these many years ago it was much simpler. Off went the docs. And I waited w/o a single peep until the thick “accept” package arrived in my mailbox 4 months later. Didn’t stress b/c there was nothing to stress about.

You’ve more than once been pretty open about your insecurities about your ED app to Brown. We sympathize. You’ve even taken to the illogical fad of posting “chance me” threads to other HS students.

But PLEASE realize the earth isn’t going to split if you don’t end up attending Brown. It’s just NOT THAT IMPORTANT in the scheme of things. We wake up this morning to news of perhaps citing 10K deceased from the Philippines typhoon. From all indications of your academic record – you’ll be absolutely fine and have a wonderful college career. Whether it’s Brown or not is really just a detail. Does being accepted into Brown increase your eventual happiness in 5 years?

FireandRain is a Brown alum, I believe. I applied, was accepted but eventually matriculated at another college. For us who have “been there, done that” we’re trying to mitigate some of the extremes of nervousness that you and your fellow applicants are feeling. We aren’t trying to belittle genuine emotion or feeling – but hopefully we can illuminate the situation to say: it ain’t all dat.

Good luck to you during this waiting period. Please enjoy your senior year – go out with a bang. Ask out every guy/girl you’ve been afraid to – all they can do is say no and it’ll be their loss, right? Knock out a 4.0 just because. Love your parents and sibs. Enjoy the carefree life of a 17 y.o. while getting ready for college next August. You’re in a wonderful stage – and you seem to fail to recognize it.

No, it doesn’t mean that at all. That initial email said the week of the 4th. I suspect they got record numbers of Ed applicants and you shouldn’t be surprised that it’s taken a little longer for them to send out ID’s to them all.

I know it’s hard but try to let the application go. It’s out of your control now. Focus on your other apps as they are coming up just around the corner! It’ll keep you busy and distracted from Brown.

thanks! and also, I am not at all concerned about being rejected from Brown if that’s how I seemed, though as fireanddrain said, I shouldn’t be reading too much into everything. I am just concerned since I haven’t received anything in almost a week.

I applied ED as well, but I did not even receive that initial email you guys are referring to. On the CommonApp it shows that all of my materials have been downloaded, and I received a confirmation from CommonApp that my app was submitted but I have not received anything at all from Brown. Should I call or email Brown?
