No Chance for Cornell Due to Rank?

I've applied to Cornell for Mechanical Engineering. Already accepted to CU-Boulder and UICU.
But I'm wondering if my class rank - top 11% but not 10% - kill my chances.

GPA 3.82 UW - steller grades after 9th, which was taken at a junior high.
9 AP classes
Took Calc III at Colorado State U last semester
33 ACT - 34 superscored
SAT II - Math 740, Chem 660
White male from Mountain West area.

Average EC's - Play ice hockey 9 months of the year, NHS, Tri-M Honor Society, Art award, volunteer work for Trout Unlimited and other conservation projects. Play double bass in Symphony Orchestra and Chamber orchestra, school musicals, etc. No leadership roles.

Worked past 3 summers for water resources engineering firm
Have taught myself how to maintain and repair cars and am working on restoring a 68 Chevelle SS, which is why I love Mechanical Eng. Subject of essay.

Chances?

I mean, they aren’t going to say “This kid isn’t in because he isn’t top 10%…” It really depends on the competitiveness of your high school and whether your grades showed upward improvement. Your stellar grades after grade 9 will greatly help you… (most colleges dont give freshman grades as much weight…)
I’d say (low?) -reach
I’d say you have a pretty good shot… you can’t change your gpa and a 3.82 isn’t THAT bad. If you wrote great essays and had great recs, you should be set.
But really, especially in Ivy admissions, no one knows…

I think your fine…ur gpa is great. I’m applying as a mechanical engineer as well!! good luck:)

Thanks for the little rays of hope.
