No Core/Gen Ed Requirements?

I'm a firm (my mom calls it "overly stubborn") believer in doing things that excite you, which is why I've actively looking for a school where I don't have to take any "core" or "general education" classes, like math or science. I'll probably be going for French (though I'd prefer a Modern/Romance Language...I take (college-level) French, Italian, and Japanese in school, and I'd hate to give them up) or Studio Art, so I don't see any applications for math or sciences in either field of study.

I understand that schools think that we need a "breadth of knowledge" to prepare us, but I don't think that schools have the right to demand thousands of dollars from us if only to tell us which classes we have to take, like high school right now.

I've been looking at the University of Rochester and Hobart and Williams (what can I say, I'm a New York girl) but I was wondering if there were any others with no cores I could be looking for?

Brown, Amherst, Smith, Vassar, Wesleyan, Hampshire, Evergreen State.

Second recommendation for Vassar. Fills all your needs.

Cool, thanks. I’ll look them up!
