No Decision from LSA Yet

A friend of mine applied to UMich LSA about a month and a half ago and still hasn't heard back from them. Is this normal? Should he call the office to see what's causing the delay?

If you havent heard by now, that does not necessarily mean that you will not get admitted to the school, but it does mean that you will not join the Fall 2006 group. U-Mich has a special program called the "Summer Bridge" program, in which the incoming freshman must enroll and begin classes starting in the end of June 2006. They are doing this because they have already filled up the freshman class but still want to give other applicants a chance to go to their school. The only way they can do that is with the summer bridge program.

Keep your hopes up and good luck

hellokitty is right that there is a Summer Bridge program.

However, it is not true that Fall admits are over with.

Nor is it true that anyone who is still waiting will only be offered a place for Summer, either for bridge or non-bridge.

lol, i was scared for a moment from hellokitty's response. People will still hear from umich about FALL spots until mid april.

Yes Pamngiummy, Michigan will be sending out potential acceptances until mid April. However, this year, Michigan will not be sending out the usual number of acceptances. The last couple of years, Michigan has sent out over 13,000 acceptances. This year, I have a feeling that Michigan will be sending out fewer than 12,000 acceptances...and this year, I am pretty sure Michigan has had a record number of applicants. So where Michigan accepted 55%-60% of its applicants in the past couple of years, this year, Michigan will probably be accepting 45% of its applicants. Lots of students who thought Michigan was a shoe-in (always a bad assumption) are going to be disapointed.

PLEASE it's shoo-in shoo-in shoo-in

Thanks for the correction Spikemom. I am always looking to improve my English. Shoo-in it is.

Jeez, my chances seem more and more bleak everyday. To tell you the truth, I thought I had a good chance at getting into UMich. So far I've been accepted to:

Wisconsin (honors)
BC (honors)
UMD (scholars)

I have a feeling I won't get in, considering how competitive UMich is looking this year.

You're into the Boston College honors program and University of Maryland honors program--don't stress. I know kids in both of these programs, and they are all incredibly happy at their colleges. :)

Yeah, they're all great schools and all but I really like Michigan.

i got mine nearly 3 weeks ago. although they say they may give decision after may 1.

So they are sending out decisions via snail mail until mid-april?

"they say they may give decision after may 1"
^^^^^^
how is that possible when it is the last day to confirm enrollment for college? They can't expect kids to wait for Michigan and then find out they didnt get in and not be able to go to school.

sorry i just realised that this thread was about LSA. i was talking about LSA Honors. :o

I think admit rate will be lower....35-40%

I doubt it KB. Not this year anyway. I think it will drop to 45% this year and will possibly drop to 40% next year.

Well I got in today! Woop Woop!

haha...ok...i'll bet you on that alex. Loser has to write a 300 word post on how wonderful, great, and omniscient the other is. You're ON!.

KB

Ok, you are on. If Michigan accepts fewer than 42.5% of the applicants, you win. If Michigan accepts more than 42.5% of the applicants, I win. If Michigan accepts exactly 42.5% of the applicants, nobody wins! I hope you are right! hehe

...what's the deal on rounding? hehe..j/k.

I hope i win too, coughing up 300 good words about you will be tough. hehe. j/k

O:-)

May the best guesser win!

KB
