No decision letters this year

i didn’t even get an email from brown. what does that mean?

^ It means you didn’t get an email from Brown. Nothing more, nothing less.

i got 6pm west coast
hmmmm weird

5pm for China, on 4 1st…

thanks for that siyao1030 :D

To be honest I’d rather not be bothered about the time… Because if you care a lot and then get bad news you will be seriously bummed out. Whereas if you go to all the descisions at once you’re bound to get good news from somewhere and then be really excited about that place and then “screw all the rest I’m going to X”

A few years ago when my daughter was waiting, the site crashed for several hours at midnight when it was posted that year, and it crashed again the next afternoon, which was decidedly worse than spreading out the times. Which is harder? Knowing it’s crashed and having to wonder if and when it will be back online, or knowing that you will find out at a specific time. I think the latter. Be patient, guys, it will all happen in good time.

FYI whoever said no letters will be sent has to be wrong. They will send you forms to fill out if you are coming and a little extra something perhaps. Plus colleges are very much concerned with yield and sending an email is way too cold.

Also not sending letters to everyone is most likely not a real environmental initiative, like most places it is business and logistics first and if there’s a nice consequence so be it, much like the vw dining tray thing we’ve discussed before, which some people think is the best thing ever, but IMO these people may not live in an adult world at this time, despite their confidence otherwise.

Wolfman: A very small part of the e-mail that Brown sent to applicants -

Please note that we will not be mailing decision letters. To access the online service, you will need the username and passkey emailed to you earlier this year by the College Admission Office, not the PIN and password you received if you applied online. Please follow these steps to ensure that you can successfully log in:

As the title of the thread says: “No decision letters this year”… The decision will be online, but that doesn’t mean the forms won’t be mailed to those accepted… :)

exactly, if you are accepted you should get a brown Brown folder and it will also say congratulations!!! etc. which is actually a decision letter…is it not?

Whichever is the case I’m pretty sure that they intend for everyone to get their decision first online. So regardless of whether they mail acceptances, you still aren’t going to find out any earlier than the stated time and date.

Not exactly. The decision letter is the one used specifically to let you know about their… decision!
I mean, what happens to those who get rejected and don’t check it online? Will they know about the decision?
So that’s why the admissions office was clever enough to let everyone know that all the decisions will be available online. For instance, in my case, if I’m accepted (and I hope to god I am), I’d probably lose all the deadlines for sending the necessary documents, since my neibourhood has a lausy mail service.
