So no EA decision for us here. D22 submitted her documents before deadline, checklist shows Oct 23 completion. Going to call admission Monday, but I’ve noted we had people with the same problems in prior years. Anyone care to share what was the issue with the decision? Any resolution?
Same here ! checklist shows Sept 28 completion.
What I read of last yr , some came by mid Feb
same here - we have likely been rejected and will be notified on Monday…
Don’t think its denial issue . Last yr this happened to someone and got accepted on feb 19
We will have to follow up with admission officers
From what I remember seeing in the past some applications slipped through the cracks. What I remember was those people called the following Monday and things were quickly resolved. I know it’s a stressful time but UMD will look at your child’s application and make a quick decision on it if you had the materials in on time. Again, I know it’s stressful but it will be ok. Call them on Monday and they’ll resolve it. FYI, the ones I remember also got admitted in the end.
If you want to see for yourself, take some time and read through the last two years threads and the examples are there.
any updates for you? what did the office say? I’m planning to call tomorrow.
same thing here it’s so stressful
if I get pushed in the rd pool I am gonna be so triggered
According to some “note” in my D22 file she has not submitted her transcript for Governor school she attended for 1 month in the summer. While her checklist shows as complete. I called twice and was told to email Admission with details and someone will respond to us. But most likely will be pushed to rolling admission. We already sent the transcripts from that Gov school and talked to our guidance counselor who helped my daughter to draft email to AO. There is nothing we can do at this point and really heartbroken for our kid who was looking forward to decision as this place was her in two top choices. If she pushed to regular decision (at best) she is out of the running for Honors and scholarships. The whole situation is bazaar and does not show the school in the best light. But I am sure they don’t care - they have thousands of kids ready to take a spot….
Update: called in and they apologized - provided decision within 4 days.
Our D22 got accepted into Letters and Science department. She was going for CS. With her stats this was just a slap in the face. They considered her on a rolling basis instead of EA as they should’ve based on the fact her checklist status was shown as complete as of Oct 23. She declined.
@DreamerMom while I understand your (and your daughter’s) frustration and disappointment with how UMD handled her application, if UMD really is in her top two choices I would not rule it out simply because she was admitted to L&S instead of CS directly. As others have noted, moving into CS from L&S is a sure thing for any student that meets the gateway requirements. However, if there are other reasons for ruling it out, it’s great that she has other options and I’m sure she will have a successful experience regardless of where she lands.
Thank you for the support! If this was a decision handed to her as an EA applicant, we would completely understand. However, looking at indifference, unfairness and disorganized fashion this decision was rendered we have no desire to support the school. While she did love her visit and programs she attended there, no need to chase something that is not also chasing her.
UMD is a top school for cs and as adlgel said, it is very very easy to move from undeclared to cs once admitted. I would heavily advise against rejecting their offer before hearing from other schools.
