No early write = rejection?

Hi,

I’m new to this forum, and I wasn’t aware of “early writes” until I stumbled upon a couple posts this past week.

I was wondering (for Williams particularly) who gets early writes, does the majority of accepted students get them, and if I didn’t receive an early write, does that mean my chances of admission are slim to none?

If someone could clarify this idea, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Well, the language of the early write says:

“If you’re wondering why you’re reading this letter before our official notification day, it’s because we feel so strongly about your candidacy that we’ve included you in a small number of applicants who receive early word of their acceptance.”

I doubt that “a small number of applicants” is a majority of acceptances, though it’s technically possible (but it kinda calls into question why they would even bother with a regular acceptance day). I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Most accepted students don’t get early writes, so don’t fret just yet!

I think I read somewhere that about 150 of accepted students to williams each year get early writes - so no most of the accepted class doesn’t get them
