No ED acceptance letter yet.. what do i do?

Hi, I have been accepted ED, but I havent received my letter yet because I am an international student. I know i have to deposit an amount of money by a certain date. Does anyone know what is that date? Is there anything i should do while waiting for the letter? Any help or past experiences is greatly appreciated, thanks!

jan 18th.

plus if you did ur app online, you should already have an online account and password that they give you.

I found out mine dec 19th online, then got my letter a few days later (USA)

i think that you should call ,now that they are open.

Bambo222: Do you mean the account where I checked my decision online? If so, I cant seem to do anything with it atm (other than check my decision)

Dennis173: I tried calling, but it was a Saturday morning and all I got was an answering machine.. will try to call again on Monday, just getting paranoid here... hehe

Send a check with a letter to the Undergraduate Admissions Office, Cornell University, P.O. Box 516, Ithaca, NY 14851-9830 (this address from my son's ED acceptance envelope). The deposit slip he has asks for name, address, when you are enrolling (what semester), what college you are enrolling in and your social security number. The deposit for ED is $400.

I'm sure your letter is on the way, but probably it is most important to get the deposit in on time. In the meantime you can try calling on Monday and see if you can get through, or perhaps sending an email. Maybe they can fax the letter to you.

Thank you so much cornell75, I'll do just that ! =) Do I address the check? to Cornell university?

Make the check payable to Cornell University and just include the other stuff in a letter so they know whose it is and for what school, etc.

Thanks!.. And how do I know if they have received my deposit? Is there anything else I should do?

If you're paying by personal check, then pay attention to the check number. Approx 1 week after you send the check by mail, then call your bank & ask them if check number XXX in the amount of YYY made payable to Cornell U. has been cleared. Alternatively, you may check your online statement if this option is available.

If you're paying by credit card, which I think is a better option due to possible collection fees on both ends for personal check, you may check your statement online.

khf, I am also an international student and I haven't received my acceptance letter either. I called up the office of undergrad admissions today and they said that they sent out the letters by post on Dec 19th so I think we should have received them by now. They seemed to think that there was a problem with my mailing address as they asked for it several times.

Anyway they said that I should just send in the deposit to the address given above (I think I'll include a print-out of my online acceptance letter and all the information mentioned by cornell75). Btw, thanks cornell75!

Thanks kwyml and mal3889. Good (err.. bad, actually) to see that I'm not the only one who hasnt received their letter yet! They asked for my mailing address when i called them too.. I wonder if they have sent the letters at all or not.

I'm sorry, can anyone confirm the address of the office? In the website, it says Ithaca, NY 14851-0516. The address given by Cornell75 was 14851-9830. I'm very unfamiliar with the American system, so I'm not even sure if it makes a difference.

The zip code was what I got from my son's envelope--it was a special envelope they provided, but the last four digits of the zip code are not that important. If the website is listing that zip with 0516 as the place to send your deposit then use that. It'll all get there. The 14851 is the most important part of the zip code.

I can confirm that the address is 14851-9830 as they told me to send the deposit to that address when I called them up the first time.

I called them again, but this time I called the College of Engineering and they asked me to e-mail them my mailing address exactly as it should appear on the envelope. They said that they would send the letter again and that they would extend the deposit deadline for me. So I think I'll wait till I receive the letter before sending the deposit.

This is weird, I emailed the admissions office and the address they gave me is the 0516 one! Cornell75, i think youre right in saying that it probably doesnt matter...

Mal3889, thats a great idea! I think I'm gonna ask the CoE to do the same (fellow engineer, hey!) The admissions office did say that they will send me another letter when i called them up the first time. I wonder how long will it take to reach us..

Wow, I didn't expect there'll be more Cornell applicants not receiving the acceptance letter like me.
I am an international student too, and I'm accepted by the college of Arts and Sciences. But the acceptance letter hasn't arrived until now. Thanks to you guys' advice, I think I should send Cornell an e-mail right away. And good luck to you guys.

P.S. Any Arts and Sciences fellow here?

Haha welcome to our merry little club. Don't worry about it too much; ask them to resend the letter and if you don't get it soon, just send the deposit. khf told me that if they don't receive the deposit on time, they will contact us and check. So its all good :P. Btw, where are you from?

"khf told me that if they don't receive the deposit on time, they will contact us and check. "
That's a relief. Thx. :)
I'm from China.

welcome to our band of letter-less students! Yeah as mal3889 said, the staff told me they will contact us if they dont have our deposit by the deadline. if youre sending the check, include your date of birth in the letter too.

Hi everyone, I am also waiting for the letter. How did you know about the deposit and all the stuff? I thought there's no information about this on Cornell's website!

lzx90415: I'm accepted by CAS and I'm also from China! Which province are you in?
