No Electives? Yeah!

i hav to choose an elective 4 IB next yr- my choices are IB Photo, Art, Film BUT i might be able to swing AP Chem as an elective and then take IB Psych, as one yr course in 12th grade.
Chem would benefit me a lot, since i want to do pre-med but everyone will call me a nerd and colleges would think i m so lop-sided b/c of my lack of arts electives.

what should i do?
who else is sacrificing easier electives 4 AP ones?

My "electives" for the past three years have been Honors Chem, AP Stats, and Graph Theory. So obviously I, as a biased human being, am going to suggest you take AP Chem. (even if you don't want to do premed it's still useful stuff if you want to do anything else science related...and maybe you'll get college credit, which saves a bit of money).

I'm taking 5 APs next year as my core, and my electives would be Band, Japanese, and American Sign Langauge. One of my APs is Spnaish. I kind of hoping that colleges will see my passion for langauge through my classes. >_>

I wouldn't worry about it. I think that colleges might be impressed by your interest in science. I'm taking/have taken AP Euro, AP Envi Sci, and AP Physics as 'electives...' but that's because I love European history and science. So, just make sure that you're taking Chem because YOU want to, and not because it would look good for someone going into medicine =)

PS- My friends like to tease me (good-naturedly, I swear!) about the fact that I'm taking APs as electives... so, yeah, you probably will be called a nerd. But it's not the worst thing to be called =D

A lot of med schools don't seem to accept AP credits in place of a college class so watch out for that.

If it's something you enjoy learning then I'd suggest taking it. Most of my planned electives are all nerdy.
