no email decision/ how about snail mail?

My son was one of the 2% that hasn't received an email decision, even though his account says "yes" to email notification. I'm assuming we will have to wait now for the snail mail response. Does anyone know when that will be? I'm not really expecting an "accepted" decision since he can't log into the admitted student's page, but it would be nice to get this behind us.

They send out the snail mail at the same time they release decisions via e-mail, so probably by the end of this week.

I'm in the same situation emmabelle, except I chose not to receive email decisions. I can't log in, and I know that means I am most likely rejected. Thats why I am trying to face the truth right now.

I called todya.. they said comcast and sbcglobal were having glitches.. the email may or may not arrive. the snail mail was mailed yesteday.. i hate waiting also..

figures, we're with comcast. Why can't they put their rejections on their website like everyone else. Just kidding about the rejection part.

Same situation, using Comcast too. They really should resend the emails, even though it is against their policy.

Ahhh i see. Yeah, i use sbcglobal.

Got the snail mail today and it's a......... WAITLIST! We're happy that it wasn't and out and out rejection. Now the next two months are going to stink having to wait for a decision. Of course I shouldn't have been reading up on waitlists, because I read on one site reasons why candidates are put on waitlists -

A better qualified candidate from a school is rejected, while a lesser-ranked member of his/her class (with legacy or minority status) gets in. Rather than trying to explain the underlying bias, the school will usually waitlist the better qualified candidate, with no intention of actually admitting him/her.

This is my son, he's ranked #1 in his HS, while the #8 student, who's dad is a minority was accepted. If you ever saw the #8's course load for senior year you would be surprised. This particular student has 3 AP's which is good, but his other three courses are not even honor classes and he doesn't take any kind of language. He also only took two AP classes junior year.

^^ Admissions aren't based solely on grades and class ranks. Perhaps that "lower ranked, minority" has focuses that extend beyond the classroom while your son doesn't?

not to be fresh, but he doesn't, he plays sports and that's about it. We've known him since first grade. I'm assuming that you mean focused on the community and things like that. He wouldn't have time, what with football and basketball.

I'd actually like to retract my previous statements, because it sounds just like sour grapes and honestly I'm happy for anyone who gets into their top choices. I do feel bad for the #4 girl though, because I think she actually had the best qualifications out of all of them, but I guess it's just a random process.
