no email...

what does it mean if i havent received an email yet? im getting kind of worried since the other applicants from my school have already received them. kinda discouraging… :(

Mine was in my spam box, not regular inbox... maybe you should check yours?

bbutt- are you an ED deferred? i haven't gotten one either

jusayswhat, im an ED deferred and i haven't gotten one. maybe its only for RD?

there was one or two ED deferred kids who got the email, most it seems like most (myself included) haven't gotten one yet.

nope im RD. i thought maybe it would have come today but no such luck. im so bummed :(

i was ED deferred and got an email...

Just because you didn't get an e-mail doesn't mean you should give up hope ... I'm pretty sure they sent that e-mail en masse, and some college student at Brown volunteering accidentally missed an e-mail address when they entered in the stuff into their database.

Mistakes happen.

ya but it feels like i didnt even apply....what the heck :( and i really wanted to go to brown too

Yeah, I haven't received an email either...

Honestly, I doubt that Brown would convey our rejection through our non-receival of email. It would be far too obvious.

So we can still blindly hope.

I haven't gotten an email either.. :(
I'm RD and international
I've scoured my email and junk mail.. but no cigar.
Hopefully this isn't some sign!

I was ACCEPTED early decision and I got this email.

***?

Guys, it's obvious the email means absolutely nothing. It's just a bulk email sent out in an attempt to diffuse the deluge they will get March 31. If you didn't get an email, it means nothing, only that in any vast group email, a small percentile will not go through for whatever reason--it goes to spam, or is blocked by your own system entirely, or is dropped en route (occasionally I don't get an email from someone who sent it, or someone doesn't get mine), or they didn't put in your name correctly, or whatever. You can see how in this chat room, the vast majority of people got the email--but they can't possibly all have gotten in. Stop worrying. Wait a few weeks and you'll find out.

I'm going to try my best and not worry, but I really feel that this is linked to a rejection. Obviously, not intentional though. I mean I just feel that even if the email "didn't get sent" to a few kids, I'm sure all the kids who are going to be accepted received one. They wouldn't forget to send the email to acceptees.

I don't know. That's just my two cents. Obviously, I'm speculating.

I agree that there has to be something to not getting the email. Nobody has addressed that here. Speculating on what the different times mean is one thing. How are you supposed to know when to log in if you didn't even get any information as to when your time frame is. This is weird.

For those of you convinced that not getting the email means you are rejected: I would bet that the admissions office hasn't even made its decisions final yet. They are probably still meeting in committee. So there is no way -- absolutely no way -- that getting this email or not getting it or what time you see your decision reflects the outcome.

Honestly, this year's applicants are beyond paranoid.

yea. wow this is seriously depressing.

maybe modest melody or fireandrain have something to say about this?

anyway, do you guys think I should contact my local admissions officer. i hate to bother her, but it's driving me crazy on the inside.

ilovepeople, I did say something. You're being paranoid. You may not be accepted, but it has nothing to do with this email.

If you haven't heard anything by March 29, then you could contact Brown and ask them what time you should check the website.

"Honestly, this year's applicants are beyond paranoid."
It's not paranoia as much as neurosis, OCD and irrational thinking. I have to say, as a high school honors teacher, that I find these posts very depressing. Is this irrational hysteria indicative of a further trending toward anything? I know I sound insulting; but I'm actually quite concerned. Is this a deeper inability to read data and draw rational conclusions? Are these posts only from people from hyper-competitive upper class schools who are used to immediate gratification? Or is it simply a case of fear breeding fear? But then why would the students be so susceptible to the fear? Students, what is your take on this? Why are very bright students (applying to Brown, after all) responding in this fashion?

^They're just not used to being independent. Up to this point either a parent or school has guided them through everything more significant than making friends. Once something so big is left up to them, they get lost because they don't know how to find resources in the real world.
