No essay for Washington University supplement?

We can not find the essay topic for Washington University supplement. Can someone confirm there is no essay required for supplement? Thanks.

The only supplemenet that Wash U requires is the Pre Application Form that is available off of their website. Common consensus is that Wash U does not require an additional essay to encourage people to apply with the ease of the Common App sans supplement. They do however require multiple essays if you are applying for any of their numerous scholarship opportunities. I think the Anikka Rodriguez one requires at least two.

I personally think from my experience with the University, that Wash U relies more on demonstrated interest with things such as campus visits and interviews to gauge a potential student applicant instead of relying on a second essay.

Returning to the question, it can be confusing because on the Common App website, it says that Wash U has an offsite supplement. This is merely the Pre Application Data Sheet. I applied ED a few weeks ago and they notified me that my applicaiton had been succesfully completed and that they were only waiting for my first quarter grades to come in before they could start reviewing the application.

Hope this helps

yup, only the Pre-App Data sheet. no extra essay

But they do require essays for their scholarship programs?

Any extra information on that?

^Yes, I believe all of the merit scholarship apps require essays.

Now I am confused about the need for an essay:

After submitting the Pre-Application Data Sheet/Supplement, there is a thank-you letter, with the following:

If you would like to get a head start on the Common Application, the Personal Essay topics are listed below. You will need to submit an essay on one of the topics. Please indicate your name …

and there are 6 topics?!

What’s confusing?
There is no outside, separate essay for WashU.

However, there is still the commonapp essay. And commonapp gives you 6 choices (one of which is, I believe “a topic of your choice”).

yep - so WashU does require an essay, it’s just that the prompts (of which you have 6 choices) are the same for all Common App schools, so you only have to write one essay for all of the colleges that don’t require an extra (unique) essay. And WashU isn’t one of those schools with a supplemental essay.
sorry to burst the bubble if you thought that “no supplemental essay” meant you didn’t have to write anything though ;)

sniff*
such a nice school T.T

Ahhh! I too just submitted the Pre-application data sheet and with the thank you note got the list of the 6 essays to get a head start. I am home for winter break and was hoping to finish the app before i went back to school (I am applying as a transfer), unfortunately my internet went out and when I clicked refresh the page was gone, so I lost the list of topics. Can anyone please post the 6 topics, I really wanted to get this done before I went back to Auburn. Please and thank you!!
