No FA student

I’m a student at DA and I can only tell you my experience. I think as teenagers no one wants to be labeled/advertised as rich or poor - if someone brags about their wealth, it’s generally accepted that they are immature and everyone moves on. Because kids don’t like their identities to be tied with their financial background, FA isn’t a large part of Deerfield conversation (again, this is my experience).

I don’t mean to indicate however that ‘touchy’ issues aren’t openly discussed. Diversity, etc. enjoy a constant open dialogue. But what kind of ‘money’ you come from is simply irrelevant, and it’s a pride of mine to be a member of a student body that appears to understand that. This may have not been the case 30 years ago, but it is now.

On the other hand, you can’t stop kids from wearing nice clothes. We have a semi-formal dress code and there’s no reason a student should be out of line if he wears a nice blazer.

By the way, [this thread](Deerfield Academy [Deerfield, MA] - Prep School Admissions - College Confidential Forums) is best for these questions. We’re trying to make it the DA thread. If in the future you could direct them there I think you might find more kids prepared to answer
