No finaid information until April?

I contacted the Finaid office because I was accepted in early December but haven’t yet heard anything about scholarship offers. Their response was incoming freshmen are informed of their awards in the first or second week of April.

That is awfully late, from my point of view, since I already know from all of my other schools what scholarships I would be awarded. Plus, I live in Arizona and I desperately want to visit (there is an April 3 tour date), but it would be a waste of money if I find out a week or two later that they aren’t offering me enough money to attend anyways.

I wish money weren’t my primary motivator here, but it is the inconvenient truth. I have no idea what to do about it, as if I wait until scholarship information is released there will be no chance for me to visit, but if I go before I find out there is a chance I could be wasting my parents’ money unnecessarily.

I’m sure a lot of other schools function this way too, but it seems to be an unfair system.

It's hard to wait, isn't it? :( My daughter ended up at OSU, however, I don't even remember when we found out the financial aid info because she had to wait until April 1st to hear about acceptances from two of the schools on her list. It was awful.

Do you have a good chance of getting a scholarship? It seems to be pretty cut and dried (requirements listed on the website), with the exception of those who are invited to compete for more. Best of luck to you.

Well that is the power of posting I guess.

I found out about an hour after I started this thread that I received the National Buckeye Scholarship ($7,200/yr). Not nearly enough though, I hope there is more to come otherwise I'll be forced to stay in state. At least it is a start.
