So for a few of my schools that I applied to RD, like UMich, UNC, and UPenn, it says that either there is “No financial aid data available” or “no financial aid data found”, even though I submitted my FAFSA/CSS almost a month before the deadlines. Will these be eventually changed to at least acknowledge that I sent them in, or should I call?
Also, for Rutgers University, they are asking to see proof of citizenship, but mentioned that I would have to go in person. Has anyone actually done this yet?
Call the schools to find out why they show no FA data available. We would just be guessing.
If there is a question of your citizenship, you will have to prove it to the FA office before you can received federal financial aid (state aid is up to the state, but most require some form of legal status). Some schools will start processing your FA if you provide a copy of a passport, but others will not budge until they see your proof of citizenship in person, which is required by federal regs.
It’s up the schools to decide what to post on their portals. Some will update every step of the process (application received, taxes updated, in process, etc) while others will just post the award.
If you have questions, call or email.
@twoinanddone Ok thank you! I was just worried because everything else is in, but proof of citizenship I guess.
