I was admitted to binghamton in early January and just received my financial aid portfolio. I got nothing! I wasnt too upset but then I heard that 4 other kids from my school who also got accepted all got nothing as well. We all are ranked in the top 10 in the class, and we all have SATs over 1350.
My question is, where did all the money go? Also is there still room to haggle with the admissions office and explain special curcumstances?

Your stats woud not qualify for merit aid. Honors program students receive ome merit aid however but they have much higher stats than you do.
Assuming you did not qualify for need based financial aod, the ost of Binghamton is still a great deal.

If you're in a good financial situation, most likely the school will give you less financial aid than the others. Let's say you are having a big problem with financial status and accepted, you're most likely to get some financial aid.

well i dont qualify for need based, and apparently neither do the other kids in my school.

Does anyone know of any other merit based aid other than the honors program which is a meaningless $500?

Yeah, the Honors program is really crappy. They probably don't give much money b/c you already have an in-state tuition. You can always appeal your package if you feel like you deserve more but I think that'll only work for need-based.

BTW, this might be a stupid question but did you apply for financial aid? I can't remember whether or not I applied for it at Binghamton.
