I applied for financial aid (low income family); however, I still have not received anything from Carnegie Mellon regarding my monetary aid. On the status page, under the financial aid section, it says parents w-2's and 1040 with no date beside it. I am pretty sure my parents did not send those in yet so is that the reason why I have not received my financial aid letter? Also does anyone know if it is too late to send the tax documents in? I ad my fasfa and css in a long time ago though? Thanks.

One of my friends who was accepted received her financial aid packet already.

No, it is NOT too late. Send it ASAP. Last yr, she was in the first wave of acceptances and received her FA package within a week of the letter–but pending receipt of the our tax documents. We submitted them the next day…and the rest is history. Good luck!

I got stuff in the mail today, and I live in Ohio, and the information was sent out on the 31st according to the “Where Am I in the Process?”

well you’re in better shape than i am… i still haven’t received my decision letter yet :(. and i never got my admissions ID so I can’t check online… oh well. (I live abroad btw)

financial aid came today, barely got any money (well i guess it was pretty good if CMU wasn’t so expensive)

oh, and they forgot to seal the envelope. cmu is really bad at sending stuff to their applicants…

Can anyone else who received it tell me what papers were inside? I wanna make sure nothing fell out.

I received my aid award letter, an estimated student balance calculation sheet, a estimated balance due worksheet, some “afford.com” thing for paying bills or something, and a brochure

My son still has not received any offer of $$$ from CMU so I called and spoke to them. They were happy to tell me that a Presidential Award is on its way. ($6K) Not so very impressive when you consider the cost of the school. We will likely be ruling out Carnegie Mellon on the basis of cost.

So if I call them, they will tell me how much money I got?

It could not hurt to call the Adm/Fin Aid office tomorrow and ask. They should know by now if they are extending a sholarship offer. They did not hesitate to look it up when I called. GOOD LUCK!!
