Dude I have no study halls my SENIOR year (first semester anyway; I get one second), in the year when a good number of kids at my school have two, and even a lot of my motivated friends have one every other day. I only had a study hall once every six days sophomore year, and the same junior year. You’ll be ok, trust me.

If your school offers frees, then that in itself probably says something about the school. Most of the public schools around here do not offer study halls. The only one that does offers the most AP courses in the state and has a relatively high AP pass rate (I’m thinking it’s around 80%).

My school offers study halls and I actually have two right now (though one counts as an independent study).

You should probably talk to other sophomores about if they needed a study hall or not. Do you actually use your free period right now? If you do, you might need to keep it and lay off on one class up the line. If you don’t, then try to wing it.

And another question… Are you allowed to drop classes after school starts? Here you are, so if you do take all classes/no study halls, you can drop a class and pick up another class or a study hall.

I personally took 7 academic classes and 2 band classes my sophomore year without a free period and it was beastly. I had a free period my freshman year, but I didn’t actually use it… So yeah.

As a senior, I love my study halls.

Oh… And if you’re on block scheduling, don’t take the study hall. Four classes is nothing. I’m on traditional. We have 7 a day. That sucks.

Never had study hall or a free period in my life. I was 100% fine. I think you can handle it, especially with 2 APs. Honestly, sometimes APs are made out to be more difficult and time consuming than they actually are.

I’ve never had a free period before, since my school is on block scheduling, and I’ve done fine. We get a half-hour break either before or after lunch, but it’s not enough time to get an awful lot done.

The only students who get proper free periods are those who are dual-enrolled at a local community college.

I like the middle school system, with 7 periods and a built in study hall and lunch period(6th grade lunch, 7th grade lunch, 8th grade lunch)

In the high school system, there’s a study hall but only 6 periods, which means A LOT fewer electives.

I love having a study hall because it means I get about 0-5 minutes of homework daily. Unfortunately, I still have to study for tests at home[parents] :(
