No hilly campuses allowed--help with search

If she’s looking at colleges on the West Coast, most of the Claremont Consortium colleges are pretty flat, although located near San Gabriel foothills.

merci-Pepperdine is in the foothills directly across the street from the beach and is quite hilly- some pretty steep hikes around campus.

Thanks for the additional information, @takeitallin‌. You’ve reminded me that I’ve run those foothills, just in a different part of town. (My post may not have been clear. I mentioned Pepperdine in relation to a prior post as an example of a particularly hilly campus.)

I’m glad she is able to relax this arbitrary rule. So no super hilly campuses, doesn’t have to be perfectly flat.

@merc81‌ Tufts would win for sure…at least, definitely among the campuses I visited. No need to worry about the freshman 15 there.

So happy for her! New ACT up to 34! Makes merit money more likely (I hope!)

Sorry Merc81- serves me right for not reading the entire thread. Also notice I got your name wrong. Should have just stayed in bed!

Great ACT score Booajo! That should open a lot of doors. Congratulations!

@takeitallin‌: Your post probably had the effect of clarifying things for anyone else reading through. Thanks for correcting my username as well.

Yes, amazing score, @Booajo‌!

^^ Btw, my profile picture is Mercury in transit across the Sun.

Otterbein is totally flat.
So is U.Alabama.

Denison is actually perched on a ridge which is extremely steep on both sides. Definitely off your D’s list.

Ohio University is a mix, but I rate it as hilly. The city of Athens and the oldest part of campus are on a hill above the more or less flat remainder of campus.

I can’t pass up this opportunity to tell my hills story! At a recent visit to Emory and Henry College, the admissions rep leading the info session kiddingly(?) said she hoped everyone had their walking shoes on for the tour of their hilly campus (it was actually only a little hilly), and that on some very hot summer days they actually do the tours in golf carts. This was a lovely spring break day with temps in the 60s, so that clearly was not in their plans for that day. However, my wife quickly seized upon that comment and requested a golf cart tour. She has peripheral neuropathy in both legs, so our usual pattern is that she will accompany us to the info sessions, but sits out the campus tours in the admissions office, the student union, or even in our car. The E&H admissions folks, though, were very gracious, and quickly rounded up a golf cart and an extra student tour guide. So she got her first-ever campus tour (as a parent, anyway), and it was in a golf cart with her own personal tour guide.

I’m not saying they’d do that to get OP’s daughter to class every day, though!
