I just got a letter from yale... "We regret to say that we are unable to provide an alumni interview for you. Alumni interviews are conducted by interviewing committees linked to specific high school, and your school is not covered by an interviewing committee. Please note that it is not possible for us to interview all applicants, and that an interview is not required for admission to Yale."

[right] No interview
Spelling mistake
30 ACT
1360 SAT

yeah, I got the same and actually I was happy about it. I am from that kind of students who panick and can't think properly in such situations. Besides they say that the fact that you will not be interviewed will not harm you. As far as I remember chidimma did not get an interview and was accepted.
I would not worry about the spelling mistake either. If this will soothe your soul you're not the only one with spelling mistakes.
However, I would worry about your poor ECs (don't mean to discourage you)...but ,hey, it's yale and with so many great candidates it's an absolute crapshot.
GOOD LUCK!!!

i didn't get an interview either and i'm kinda worried about it too. i think it could have helped me. i know they saw that not having an interview won't hurt your chances but if its between an applicant with an extremely good interview and one without an interview, would they prefer the one with the extremely good interview?

imo, they prefer the devil they know rather than the mortal they don't know. so i would say an interview helps, but not having one will not hurt.

OMG, I did not see it from your viewpoint candi. I don't want to sound mean, but I hope that the other people from my country did not get one too.

Did anyone get into Yale without an interview. If so, what are your stats?
I did not get an interview at Yale. I called the admissions office, and they informed me, that an interview is not required for admission. Looks like everyone
on "CC" had an interview. Please comment. At the present time, I have written off Yale. ( Reason: no interview)

Ok people... Breathe! I didn't get an interview, and I got into Yale. I live in a suburb of Augusta, Georgia, and I guess we're just too ghetto to have a Yale interviewer :).

I was kind of worried about not having an interview when I got the same letter in the mail. However, my experience shows that an interview is not required for admission. We don't really talk about these things much on campus, but I have friends who weren't interviewed, either.

The admissions process is kind of a crap shoot, so just keep your fingers crossed and see what happens on 4/1. And I don't think that my "stats" are particularly important or relevant. If you get into Yale and attend, you'll see that the student body is really diverse, and no set of stats will guarantee you admission. So just relax and enjoy senior year of high school!

I didn't get an interview either, and I got in. I'm sure I posted this story before. I was deferred EA, so you think it wouldn't be a "too late, all interviewers are full" type issue. Also, I live outside of Houston, so there probably wasn't a depletion of interviewers. In fact, another guy who applied from my school got an interview before me, and he applied RD. So I sent my regional rep a handwritten letter and an e-mail re-requesting an interview. I never got a response.

But... I got in and the other guy didn't. Go figure.

My friend also got into all her schools (including Duke and Rice) without interviews. Don't worry about interviews. I honestly believe that they benefit your knowledge of Yale more than your chances of acceptance to Yale.
