Should I contact someone? I am really hoping for an interview here because this is where I hope I can convey the "Why Harvard?" aspect of my application..

Is there a personal interview?

When and where possible, we try to arrange for applicants to meet with alumni/ae in or near their school communities. No candidate is at a disadvantage if an interview cannot be arranged. In the U.S., Canada and the U.K., an alumnus/a will contact an applicant directly by phone, email, or letter if such an interview is possible. If you live outside these areas, please check our website for country-specific instructions.

Harvard already knows why you want to go there anyway.

Well, I have an actual reason. While the name is obviously intimidating and a big factor, there are several things in the field that I want to pursue that are only offered at Harvard.

i’m in the same boat. all of my school friends who applied had their interviews either in early january or mid december… i haven’t even been contacted yet. and i live in the same area as the girl who had hers in december and she only submitted her app a couple days before me. ugh.

What’s only at Harvard?

I would say a Quidditch team, but I think a couple other schools have it too. But I’m sure there’s something else that we’re just neglecting.

Don’t worry. They’re still handing out interview assignments to interviewers. I have a friend interviewing who received several additional names yesterday. It’ll vary from place to place.

Ok, great! They do truly make an effort to interview everyone, yes? So no point in me e-mailing someone to request anything?

If you don’t hear by the end of the first week of March, I would email if you want an interview. But please remain patient through Feb.

But isn’t the deadline for submitting interview reports Feb 15?

" am really hoping for an interview here because this is where I hope I can convey the “Why Harvard?” "

If an interview can be arranged, Harvard will contact you.

Harvard already knows “why Harvard.” For students fortunate enough to get interviews, the interviews are an opportunity to convey why Harvard should accept them.

Harvard likes to get interview reports by Feb. 15, but due to the availability of alum interviews, students still will be being interviewed in March, and Harvard will use those interview reports.

^^^ Again, I will say that Harvard does not know my reason. I am not applying solely for the name. But thanks for the info – good to know!

I have posted this before, but my S (currently a Harvard sophomore) was not contacted for an interview until close to the middle of March. The interview was held a few days later, and Harvard sent his admission acceptance email March 31.

Also, several Harvard applicants posted last spring that they were not contacted for interviews until March, and they, too, were admitted. So don’t worry about it. If you have not been contacted for an interview by the middle of March, THEN contact Harvard about it.

I keep posting this too…my D applied in late Oct (or very early Nov), we’re in a huge metro area and the people we heard from had their interview a long time ago. She JUST got contacted this week, nearly Feb. No worries, they’re peddling as fast as they can.

My GUESS…is that her contact MIGHT have ended up in spam (make sure to check your spam) because she DEFINITELY did have another interview request in spam that she caught in time AND another school’s pin number too.

So Harvard must make another automatic pass through the applications. I’m sure everything is computerized and lists of who doesn’t have what (scores, interviews, finanial aid, etc.) are generated. It’s HARD, but sit tight.
