I know that threads like this get posted all the time from applicants who are freaking out about not getting an interview. However, I think in most cases the applicants end up living in an area with few alumni or something along those lines. I was just wondering though, would there be any other reason that I (or anyone else) wouldn't be offered an interview? Because I know I live in a place full of Penn alumni, and my friend living in a more secluded town nearby got an interview about two weeks ago. Could it be that my interviewer just personally decided to not contact me? Should I contact Penn myself? Thank you!

I wouldn’t contact Penn yourself. What I think is most likely is that there just aren’t enough interviewers for as many applicants as there are in your area. Think about it this way: if you live in an area with lots of Penn alumni, the chances are that you also live in an area full of students applying to Penn this year. Don’t be afraid though; as has been reiterated on many of these interview threads before, whether or not you get an interview is not a reflection of your chances.

Good luck!
