No interview?

I really wanted to do one so I checked the box.. I know I did because, in addition to making sure if nothing else that I checked that box, I got a letter telling me it was good that I applied for an interview and blah blah blah..

Yet, I never heard from any Alum or anything, and when I called they said my interview would come by phone. I was somewhat disappointed, but even that never came.

So now I'm stuck here wondering, since I consider myself a reach applicant, is the interview really important for the decision committee? Will they at least see that, even though they received no interview information, I at least applied for one?

thx in advance for feedback

Interviews are not important, my S was admitted without one.

Agreed. My son was admitted without one.

I din;t get an interview so I sent in an e-mail to the effect of "I'm sorry I had the chance to say Chicago is my first choice"

There are no available alumni in my area. When I called, they said not to worry about it since it's really more of an information session than anything else.

thx all for clarifying.. No more worries that it'll be "the reason" lol

still though, I'm reluctant to think it's completely meaningless to adcoms.. I just hope that, at the very least, they see I applied for one

That is relieving news :) I didn't have an interview either, and I thought they were very important for UChicago. I guess it still carries some weight, but it's not the end of the world.
