No interview

Hi all,
I applied ED1 to Tufts, and I applied over a week before the deadline. I did so because I really wanted an alumni interview (which I requested the day after submitting). However, I haven’t received an interview yet- although my friends who applied after me already interviewed! I’m a little concerned, especially because I thought interviews were first come, first serve. Any advice/ knowledge? Thanks :slight_smile:

Same case with me =((((

A week before the deadline?

My guess is that,. if they really were “first come, first serve” then you’re probably “last come, last serve.”

The Common App opened on August 1st.

My guess is that your app is probably towards the bottom of a pretty substantial pile of applications that arrived before yours, and that the alumni interviews were probably all scheduled in September/October.

My daughter, submitted RD, didn’t get an interview until March. A girl from our school who got in didn’t interview until Feb. They will have thousands ofpeople to try and arrange interviews for. Think of the logistics. Interviewers are volunteers. You may never get an interview. Be patient, and don’t fret if it doesn’t happen. My understanding is that they try their best, but it’s sometimes just not possible to accommodate every request.

MODERATOR’S NOTE:
It’s not for “no interview for no reason” so your overly dramatic headline is little more than clickbait, and I have therefore edited.

Tufts is quite clear:

Just because an interviewer may do some applicants from your HS does not mean the s/he will do them all; they are volunteers with outside lives. They let Tufts know what they can/cannot accommodate.

Current alumni interviewer - the interview selection process is driven mainly by the interviewers, who are able to select candidates in their geographic area based on their own availability (there is no queue). Some areas have higher numbers of interviewers relative to candidates and vice versa, which is why they can’t guarantee an interview regardless of when you apply.

Several days ago the admissions office sent a notice out to alumni that there were a number of candidates left for ED1 and I can see that in my region (SF bay area), at least within my radius, there are now no more unclaimed ED1 candidates.

Hopefully you’ll be contacted soon but please keep in mind that if you don’t get an interview it won’t reflect negatively on your application. Good luck!

i was wondering about the same thing…!!

thanks so much for your advice!

@bjkmom

@skieurope agh sorry! I didn’t mean for this to be clickbait! I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this. Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it!
