No job. Post-graduation internship instead..?

I graduated in May 2012 with a Bachelors in International Relations but I want to go into Media Planning/Advertising/Branding. Problem is, I have NO prior experience in mentioned field(s).

Considering that applying for those full-time positions will most probably get me nowhere (again, no experience), would it be more wise to apply for post-graduation Advertising/Media planning internship positions now to pad my resume & explore the world of advertising and apply to full-time positions later?

How does this "plan" sound?
Anyone out there take any post-graduation internship positions?

is there a reason you can’t apply to jobs and internships?

You could give that a shot, although internships like those also typically want some type of experience or at least a demonstrated interest. I would strongly recommend networking with alumni from your college and seeing what opportunities might be available.
