<p>You have to take a year of Biology with lab but it doesn’t have to be general Biology. Just find a higher level Biology course that has a lab (i.e Genetics, Cell Bio, etc).</p>
<p>not necessarily. Cal’s Bio lab is a 2 unit lab. Check to see if Cal certifies Bio 1AL as equivalent to a double lab, i.e., one full year of bio labs given over one semester. Cal’s premed site seems to indicate that it does, but I would confirm with the Bio department. (Other colleges do the same to maximize lab space.)</p>
