I exhausted all the french classes offered at my school so now i have no foreign language credit for my senior year. will this negatively affect how adcoms view my transcipt? i didnt want to start taking another language because that would just be pointless. Instead im taking two history courses (AP) since i plan on majoring in political science. HELP!

read your title...it isnt your fault. the school you are applying to will have a list of courses that are provided at your school. dont stress out over it.

Let your guidance counselor mention this in his/her recommendation or write a brief note of explaination on your app. Your situation is not uncommon and when the adcoms consider your whole transcript this should not be an issue at all. You have taken advantage of all your school has to offer for language and they will see it. If you remain concerned, call the colleges you are most interested in and see how they respond.

at some schools (UVA is def one of them) you get to explain to the schools why your schedule isn't entirely your choice.
You should write an essay and attach it to your application to all the schools, so they see what the deal is.

My S also didn't take a foreign language after 3rd year because he was in "regular track" & they lost a teacher so they'd only teach honor's track. He decided not to jump up to honor's track & took 5APs & marching band instead & didn't explain or have problems getting into the schools he wanted to. It never hurts to explain & have your counselor explain tho & Us do understand when scheduling or curriculum issues prevent you from taking language senior year, especially if it's because you exhausted all that your school had to offer.

They're not going to penalize you for not taking a class that doesn't exist.

I'm taking a fifth year Spanish class as a Junior this year. I should hope I'm not denied at colleges because they don't offer a sixth. =p
