I'm not exactly sure what that means either, but your friends are very lucky that they have you as a friend. You have lots of compassion. Good luck to you at UMCP.

well im not positive but i do believe that that means they got rejected =[ because so far everyone i know who didnt get any decision has been rejected. but you never know =]

Sonya- I hope you're wrong..I havent gotten a letter, or email or anything yet! Im guessing it means we've been defered till the April 1st deadline! Lets hope this is the case and not a rejection

My d. just got her letter....her online message was "we are unable to offer you a fall 2005 decision at this time..." and she got waitlisted for the fall 2005 but has been offered admission for spring semester. they will let her know after June 1 if she's offered a place in the fall. She's very excited...especially since she thought she was rejected for sure.

If you didn't apply by the EA deadline when do you get notified?

desvw..say congratz 2 ur daughter 4 me...still no letter or anythign 4 me! Oh well!

Just got my letter today. I didn't get in. I went to visit on 2/12 and the admissions person giving the presentation said they have limited enrollment for their business school and some of their other schools. They only take 30% out of staters. She said under the new limited enrollment plan (LEP) you need a 1300 SAT. I have a 3.8 GPA but fell short on the SAT. This was the letter I was waiting for. I really wanted to go to Smith. Looks like I'll be going to Smeal Business up at Penn State. That was my second choice.

JJ87- were you just rejected(not waitlisted or deferred)? I'm sorry to hear that and I'm sure you'll do great at Penn State.

JJ87-

Penn State has the 21st ranked undergrad business program while Maryland has the 23rd ranked one according to US News. No need to be dissapointed at all about Penn State - it's seen as a better school in some eyes.

tamy02-THANK YOU!! You're still waiting...oh, that must be agony. If you don't get your letter tomorrow, I would call admissions and tell them but I don't think they can tell you over the phone what the decision is. I am hoping you get in SO, SO BADLY! Please keep posting or email me to let me know when you hear.....GOOD LUCK!

Does anyone know what are the chances to get off the waitlist for the fall semester 2005 if you have been offered admission for the spring 2006? Should additional material be sent in?

Not wait listed or deferred. Definitely rejected. My on line tracking status hasn't been updated yet. It still says "no Fall decision yet". In all my research of UM I never came across the 1300 SAT requirement. I thought my GPA would get me in. Since I made Penn State, I thought for sure I'd get into Maryland. Had I known about the 1300, I wouldn't have had my parents make that trip down from New Jersey. I'm looking forward to going Penn State.

Still no mail today..this is really odd! Im starting to really worry now! maybe I have been rejected..man and i thought i had soemthign going 4 me..being instate etc! ahhh

JJ87-

Did you only apply to the business school? Did you put a second choice major? I'm surprised you were flat out rejected and not waitlisted.

tamy02--did you call admissions?

tamy02, call admissions asap.

I will do that tomorrow if there is nothing in the mail! I'll wait one more day! thanxx guyz!

the same thing happened to me! i got a letter on tuesday saying that i had been waitlisted for fall 2005 semester and wouldn't know UMD's decision until June 1. However, online it still says they "cannot make a decision at this time." i hope that's a good thing.

Yes. I just applied to the business school. If I were undecided I would probably have picked a second choice. Smith Business School is the main reason I applied to Univ. of Maryland.
