how does the no loan policy affect what your parents end up having to take out in loans.

assuming a parents estimated family contribution was 8k, would cmc just automatically cover the rest in scholarship/grant?

i find it confusing because what would be the purpose of the merit scholarships, when you can end up getting the same amount as long as you have a low efc?

I asked my admissions counselor that exact question last week. Here's what he said:

If your family income DOES calculate to be $8,000 a year, CMC will cover with grants.

The merit scholarships, such as the McKenna scholarship, do not change the amount of money you receive in financial aid, unless you're expected family contribution is the entire $48,000. Basically, the merit scholarships give your grants a special name.

If this doesnt make sense, call the Admissions office. Good luck!
