If I have not received an LSP admission does that mean that I am either flat out rejected, or accepted to the major I applied to? I am just wondering because my stats were borderline (3.5 UW/3.95 W, 33 ACT), so I assumed that I would probably be LSPed, but apparently not... can I still receive an LSP letter or am I left to either a rejection or an acceptance? BTW is LSP only for foreign students, I've only seen internationals receive it so far? (If so, that answers my question as i'm from Mass.)

I’m from NJ, and I was LSPed, (3.75 GPA/2090 SAT) so no, it’s not just for internationals.

@Anapestic,

ugh… that scares me, I’m mentally preparing myself for a rejection now, do you think i can still get an LSP? Also, is there a wait-list too?

great I’m SO not getting in! (though it’s my #1 choice and I can’t imagine going anywhere else…)

ahh you have higher gpa and SATs!! I’m SOOOOO nervous!!! ahhhhhh

LSP has in the past gone through the end of March, so there’s still a chance.

I’m confused. Has everyone who has gotten in so far either been LSPed or been a scholarship recipient?

When do the people who made it into their major but without a major scholarship find out?

@green, I’m pretty sure that it’s around 4/1.

I just started looking at this and is it a correct understanding that everyone has either received an offer of LSP or a scholarship for their intended major? So what is left is you either got in to the major you asked for with zero money or you are going to find out you were denied? .

They’re still sending out LSP notifications…but yes. If you don’t receive LSP, you’re either in or out.

schisamax,

First of all, from other posters, specifically, LondonB, LSP acceptances will be issued through end of March.

Yes, besides the above, the rest should be acceptances or rejections for RD. Though, interestingly, I have not seen any Presidential Scholarship recipients reporting here yet this year. Have they to be notified yet? Keep in mind, previously, some of these Scholars did not receive money except for subsidized travel abroad, honors classes, etc.

However, some RD people can still receive aid packages that are substantial, e.g., $20,000 NYU grant. Keep in mind, NYU is not known to cover all financial need with all free money; it is likely to involve loans in part (maybe even as a big part of the package).

I guess the remaining financial aid packages are now mostly based on need, though I am not absolutely sure. I do know if you have a very high EFC, the aid package will probably be non-existent or without a grant (may be loans).

Evolving: Thanks. I just called NYU and admissions told me that LSPers were getting the notifications. That Scholars had gotten notifications but they have 42,000 apps and they are just trying to get through them. They are not doing school by school or region by region. As far as no money on the admits, she said that wasn’t true. She wasn’t clear whether they will start releasing decisions prior to 4/1.

my friend just got in to the college of arts and sciences. She found out yesterday as well as a lot of other people…

and no, she isn’t a early decision candidate or a scholar

what could this mean?

schisamax,

I am glad you called NYU directly for some answers.

“As far as no money on the admits,” who wrote or stated this? I am not sure where you got that from?

My words,

“However, some RD people can still receive aid packages that are substantial, e.g., $20,000 NYU grant. Keep in mind, NYU is not known to cover ALL financial need with all free money; it is LIKELY to involve loans in part (maybe even as a big part of the package).”

parkhanna,

That seems like an anomaly from what we have seen thus far. I really am stumped to think some have heard mid-March who might be RS applicants. Unless there has been a change in policy???

Please double check because some anxious RD candidates might have their hopes raised in regards to hearing earlier.

The usual RD date is 4/1 right?
