No meaningful activity essay?!

Does the Penn app not have an essay for your most meaningful activity?

Look at the Penn app. Do you see one? No. So there isn't.

Sorry. I was just making sure, as all of my other schools have one.

No problem. jpps1's tone was out of line.

eh, some of the questions lately have made me want to punch people, so dont be too hard to jpps.

I heard you punched one of them Eckie?

some of you guys need a life.
this is a forum to help people.

gcards1: ignore jpp and eckie. the fact is that there is no essay, but where it asks you to list the activities of most importance to you, it says you may supplement your app with a more detailed description of the activity, award, or work/travel experience of most importance to you. i submitted it, you should too. i think it helps.

dont be afraid to ask questions.

-aj

Thanks AJ. AJ, did you attach a formal short answer essay, though, or just a short description?

AJ, I'm not trying to bash anyone and I'm certainly trying to help. I'll admit I've had my fair share of dumb application questions, namely in the form of financial aid forms and I certainly wasnt trying to make gcards feel dumb.

I was just saying people shouldnt say jpps' tone was so 'out of line,' because there's been a barrage of questions posted on here that could be solved simply by using the search button or reading the application and / or admissions website.

Have a swell holiday :)

Ya know, there's a good chance jpps was joking. I mean, when I say something like that in person, I say it with a smile on my face. I think part of the reason we have so many flaring tempers is because was can't see each other's faces. So, let's take a deep breath. And chillax (arguably the worst word in the world. I'm using it with full knowledge of how much it sucks)

The tone, I think, is clear and out of line.

yes, i picked up on your thoughts from your earlier post. thanks for clearing that one up for me.

No biggie! Let it slide. Megalomaniac, I can't believe u just used "chillax." Props to u.

it was a long paragraph about the description of what i did (class president) why it was important to me, examples of fundraisers, events, etc. simple.

You are welcome, megalomaniac0502. Though I'm unsure why you apparently needed clarification--"thanks for clearing that up"--if you had "picked up" my thoughts previously.

see. you didn't pick up on the sarcasm. either that or you're being sarcastic now and i can't tell. exactly the point i've been trying to make:p

eckie: Back to the 'out of line' tone. Regardless of how many times the question has been asked or how easily it could have been found, not everyone hounds this website all day long for updates. This is a quick and easy way for people to get answers from people who have been there and done that.

You're blind if you cant collect the negative tone of that comment.

This isn't even a question that has been asked before. Why? Because most people don't ask if they have to do anything that isn't on the application. It seems pretty clear to me. I printed out the app, read it over carefully, wrote my answers, reread it carefully, threw out any pages with mistakes, rewrote them, etc...

99% of the problems on this site are solved by reading the application or the admissions website. I would hope that people applying to an Ivy League school can think independently enough to find the answers for themselves.

Well the poster stated a clear title, therefore if anyone is annoyed by "stupid questions" they may merely not dwell on this website obsessively. (Those without clear titles get my goat however.....)

jpps1: i was just confirming, making sure I didn't miss anything. I was also wondering what other people did about this, like possibly sending in a short answer most meaningful activity reponse anyway if it was something important.
