I was on Rice's athletics website and noticed they do not have a mens soccer team listed. Is this correct? How can this be? With their endowment, surely cost isnt the issue. I cant imagine in this day and age that lack of interest is the reason either.

Any comments as to why this is would be appreciated. If this is my technical oversight pls let me know.

Rice doesn't have men's soccer. However, it does have club soccer and College soccer.

It seems that Rice students are much more interested in participating in sports than in observing sports. Club teams, intermural and pickup games are all popular.

They dont have anything for women's golf that I can find

Honestly, it's not that uncommon for a school to have a women's soccer team but no men's team. Even Texas A&M, a huge public school, has no men's team if I remember correctly. A lot of it has to do with equivalence between men's and women's sports.

What?! No men's soccer team??? Eh...I guess I'll be okay. I'll be playing more than I'd be watching anyway =

It's called Title IX, colleges have to have equal # of mens and womens teams I believe.

yeah westsidewolf is right one of the guys on the club team told me that's why

Do not freight. Even though we don't have Men's Soccer, intramural soccer is popular and not overlooked.
